The educational system of the university has made significant improvement during the past 28 years of progress and through the prolific efforts of the directors and university employees. In recent years the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs has been able to make improvement in the quality of education and expand the computer system throughout the university. This was achieved through the employment of experienced, well-educated professors and the establishment of committees for research and development.
Some of the most important steps taken have been the establishment of an International University in the city of Noor, and the establishment of a joint Iranian-Syrian University (Farabi) in the country of Syria.
As to the level of scientific achievements, the Tarbiat Modarres University (TMU) is certainly one of the top universities among the 58 countries which are members of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), and one of the top ten universities in the Islamic world.
TMU currently has 171 departments for education at the Master’s level, and 131 departments at the Doctorate level in 17 colleges (Faculty of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Arts, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Natural Resources & Marine Sciences, Management & Economics, Agriculture, Engineering, High Technologies, Biological Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Medical Sciences, Basic Sciences, Humanities, Law). In addition, the university is in the process of adding another three colleges in the expansion of the sciences. These colleges and departments give the university the opportunity to play an important role, along with the other universities inside Iran, in the furthering of scientific expansion and providing for the scientific and research needs of the country. And, this has helped the university to make scientific advancements in the community. According to the latest national statistics, TMU is one of the top three universities in the country. It is one of the most important centers for the education and training of specialized human resources in the country with over 500 full-time professors and 7000 students studying at the Master’s and Doctorate levels. International students from the five continents of the world are also active in this university participating in continuing education and research.
The graduates of TMU make up a considerable portion of the faculty members of other universities inside Iran.
