    Abstract

    This study presents a pattern for of Home Computer Use (HCU) and its relation to children’s social and behavioural development during primary education. This study answers whether and how HCU (either educational or recreational) during primary school is related to children’s social/behavioural development such as self-regulation, anti-social behaviour and pro-social behaviour. To do so, information about types and frequency of HCU from nearly 2000 children were analysed using hierarchical linear regression and path analysis on children ranging from 3 to 11 years old. Hierarchical linear regression was applied to study the main effects (ie direct effects) and the path analysis was used to investigate mediating (ie indirect effects) of HC

    A cultural- Historical Analysis of “childhood” and “Early childhood Education” in contemporary Iran

    Ebrahim Talaee
    Journal Papers , 2019 January , {Pages }

    Abstract

    This chapter critically reviews the creation and development of the concepts “childhood” and “ECE” in contemporary Iran. Childhood is a cultural concept so the time and place give a different interpretation to it. Iranian history in the past 150 years has experienced social, political and cultural changes which have impacted the way children and childhood were understood and acted. Using a cultural-historical lens, the author intends to review and analyze these interpretations of childhood and the way they have affected the education of young children, parenting, the image of children in the society and the agency or passiveness of children in the community they live in.

    Re-Conceptualization of "Digital Divide" among Primary School Children in an Era of Saturated Access to Technology

    Journal PapersInternational Electronic Journal Of Elementary Education , Volume 12 , Issue 1, 2019 January , {Pages 27-35 }

    Abstract

    This study conceptualizes" digital divide" among school children. The concept of digital divide is elaborated on the basis of the layers of technology adoption such as" access"," effective use" and" the social envelope" around children's use of home computers. In this study, a theoretical framework of" digital divide" is proposed consisting of social, economic, individual and cultural aspects of the digital divide among children. Based on this framework, we argue that inequalities among children can strongly be affected by the social/cultural environment around home computing ie parents’ computing practices at home and the home learning environment. As a result, we argue that access to a supportive ‘social envelope’is the area in whic

    Abstract

    The purpose of this study is understanding the Personal Practical Knowledge (PPK) of teachers which has been done through qualitative method. Understanding PPK helps us to understand why teachers act in a specific way. In this regards, reflecting on their personal and professional narratives also help to improve their practice. This study was conducted along with 13 teachers in a non-profit primary school in Tehran. The results of the study indicate teachers’ rich knowledge of factors affecting success of the teaching profession. However, the data obtained from the observations show the difference between what the teacher describes as a successful teacher and effective teaching, and what happens in their practice. The dynamic and contextu
